Licensure and Certification

American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM)

The AAHAM offers a number of certifications, including Certified Revenue Cycle Executive (CRCE), Certified Revenue Cycle Professional (CRCP), Certified Revenue Integrity Professional (CRIP), Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS) and Certified Compliance Technician (CCT). These certification examinations serve as a career ladder, beginning with the CRCS and culminating with the CRCE. The CCT exam covers compliance training requirements for all revenue cycle staff.

Certified Patient Account Manager (CPAM)

Members of the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management may achieve professional certification as Certified Patient Account Managers (CPAM) or Certified Clinic Account Managers (CCAM). These both require members to be in good standing for at least one year and to have at least four years of experience in the industry before taking the exam. Benefits of being certified include recognition in the industry, professional development, employer awareness and individual enrichment.

Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE)

Sponsored by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), this professional certification represents expertise, experience and commitment to continuing education and professional development in healthcare administration. It’s the only credential that requires a master’s degree be obtained before an applicant can even be considered. Holding this certification is equivalent to a medical staff member being board certified. Earning this credential takes years.
